Yes, I understand "Written in Fire" is a work of fiction, and the stakes are much higher, and the attacks keep coming, but this ostensibly still takes place in a world the same as ours up until the s and beyond.
Therefore, I feel like Sakey stretched /5(K). In Written in Fire, the conclusion to the Brilliance Saga trilogy, author Marcus Sakey once again ratchets up the tension and suspense. As was the case with Book 2, there were moments that the tension and suspense were so high that I had to stop myself from skipping ahead.
The /5. In fact, "Written in Fire" feels like a testament to my opinion that "Brilliants" should have been a one-and-done stand alone novel. At times, this installment feels like it's overly procedural; I didn't keep count, but there was at least 3 or 4 scenes where people stand around talking about the situation, and arrive at a conclusion suddenly /5(K).
Written in Fire completes the three novel Brilliance Saga. Note that these books MUST be read in order written or they will make no sense at all. The genre of the Brilliance Saga is contemporary sci-fi; that is, it occurs in a fictionally faltered present.

Book Review: Written in Fire I’m one of those many readers who fell in love with this Marcus Sakey’s series w/ its first installment. While the premise isn’t overtly original (substitute “brilliants” with “mutants” in any X-Men comic and you’d have pretty much have the same story), the execution and colorful characters really.
